About Matt and Julia

Matt and Julia are from the San Francisco Bay Area.   Matt, a University of California graduate in Art and Architectural History, and Julia, a graduate of the University of Phoenix with BA in Business Administration, had parallel careers before they met.  Between them, Matt and Julia have 30+ years of commercial real estate experience.  Their work included commercial office and retail site feasibility, acquisition, development, asset management, leasing and construction management.  They were responsible for projects throughout the U.S. while employed at the headquarters of various Fortune 500 companies and a Real Estate Investment Trust, including World Savings (where they both worked and met), DHL Worldwide Express and Starbucks Corporation.

It wasn’t long before they married and proceeded to buy and sell a number of homes while pursuing their careers.  They didn’t use the same Realtor twice for any of those transactions, and they’ll tell you that not one of those experiences was particularly memorable in a good way.  Then, shortly after September 11th and the birth of their son shortly after that, they took a deep look within to reflect upon where they were and where they truly wanted to be.   They realized they’d like to be in business for themselves, that they were spending far too many weekends going to Realtor open houses just for fun (even when they weren’t house hunting!), and that they were ready to move  someplace new.  They wanted to live where the beaches were spectacular and the sun would still set over the water, which meant it had to be a beach on a West-facing coast!  So Florida was the obvious answer.   In short order they sold their sailboat, packed up their baby boy, ignored their friends and family who said they were crazy and moved to the beautiful gulf coast in Pinellas County, Florida.

Their Business Model:

Matt and Julia soon formed Suncoast Partners specializing in Tampa Bay Waterfront Real Estate and non-waterfront homes within coastal communities, and promised themselves they would offer a real estate experience that paired professionalism and market expertise with the idea that buying or selling a home should be enjoyable and dare they say – even fun?!   They built a model where began to assist people on a deeper level than the industry norm.  They integrated their commercial real estate negotiation skills, Matt’s general contracting expertise, and Julia’s passion for technology and writing.

Suncoast Partners realigned their practice with Remax Elite Realty in 2011, a move they are thrilled with.  Based out of the Palm Harbor, Crystal Beach area, they represent sellers and buyers in Coastal Pinellas County and a bit of West Tampa and South Pasco Counties, too.  For those not from Tampa Bay, it may be confusing to understand how the coastal areas of the 3 counties are so well intertwined, though it’s a blend that works well and suits their love of the water.

Their Committment to You:

The Fishels are proud to be in the Top 1% of Agents in Pinellas County since 2008.    Most of the agents that accompany them in that category are very large “mega teams” – often with a dozen or more agents on a team.  Matt and Julia will share with you that on these Mega real estate teams, a client is almost always passed from one team member to the next throughout the course of the client’s home purchase or sale.   For example, often enough the client won’t even have the opportunity to meet the person who manages the team and whose name is on the listing agreement who they thought they hired to sell their house!

With that in mind, and although they have help, Matt and Julia have a committment to their clients to provide them with the personal care and attention they deserve all the way to closing table and beyond.

The Fishels are CIAS, CDPE – Certified Investor Agent Specialists and Certified Distressed Property Experts* experienced in pre-foreclosure solutions and help homeowners avoid foreclosure in Tampa Bay (via deeds in lieu, loan modifications and short sales, to name a few options).  They have built alliances with attorneys and CPA’s that provide free client consultations for additional support.  They understand that 99.99% of people facing financial hardship didn’t do anything intentionally malicious or irresponsible to cause their circumstances.  They take time to truly understand each person’s unique circumstances to see what makes sense for their families.
